2010 Tundra: P0717
I drove to the transfer station mostly in 4hi just to exercise it per the owner's manual. Switched back to 2hi before pulling in. Did my stuff. As I was pulling out I switched back to 4hi and shortly after, I got this:
Scanned it and got this:
Unfortunately I don't see any PIDs to observe what sounds like a transmission sensor. I was able to switch back and forth between 2hi and 4hi after this happened so maybe it's not related to the 4wd at all. The reason I mention that is because a week ago, I drove it to work and got a blinking 4hi/4lo display. No codes though. Did some research and it could be just the switch/controller in the dash. But it hasn't happened since.

Thanks to the factory service manual I was able to find the PID ID for the input shaft speed sensor. It reads zero whether the sensor is unplugged or plugged in.

Unplugged old sensor, began to remove 10mm bolt. Bolt broke in the transmission case. Of course it did. It actually looked ok so I guess the corrosion was all on the aluminum case around the bolt. Sensor really fought coming out, even with a pry bar. I think it was more transmission case corrosion.
Had difficulty getting the new one in so I was able to jam a battery terminal cleaner with some WD-40 in the hole and clean a bit. That did help. Got the new sensor in which required multiple tries with some real force. Got everything plugged in and it did fix the issue. I will probably jam some JB Weld in the hole and just jam the old bolt in. There are no threads I can use as it broke off fairly shallow. But I took it around the block at least and it didn't budge so I'm hoping some epoxy will hold it on.

JB Welded and jammed the bolt in there. I don't know how much extra holding power there will be but it has to be something. If the transmission goes back into limp mode I guess I'll know what to check.
