This news is a little late, like 4 months late, but Source Interlink (owns Motor Trend and Hot Rod, recently renamed themselves to "The Enthusiast Network") has fired Automobile's Editor In Chief Jean Jennings and many other staffers.

The article makes it seem like they are trying to take Automobile online as part of some MSN deal. I was wondering why the past few issues seemed to be missing some content. It might be time to play the magazine subscription shuffle. More on the MSN thing:

Ezra Dyer (easily the best contributor to Automobile over the past few years) is also gone. According to the Twitterz, he will be writing for Car and Driver as well as Popular Mechanics.

They also canned "Modified" magazine, one of the more reasonable import tuner mags.

Automobile Magazine Cuts Staff And Fires Editor
Re: Automobile Magazine Cuts Staff And Fires Editor
Well I will say I always thought C/D was pretty good, and also subscribed to A/W for over a decade. R&T had some good articles in its day. MT was alright. Never thought much at all of Automobile.

You can think even less of them now.kevm14 wrote:Never thought much at all of Automobile.

After all, it's my fault they've failed.

Why, are you brokering this MSN deal?kevm14 wrote:After all, it's my fault they've failed.
Re: Automobile Magazine Cuts Staff And Fires Editor
I meant the magazine. Not enough subscribers, I assume.

Yeah, that seems to be a trend recently. For some reason.kevm14 wrote:Not enough subscribers, I assume.
I still like the paper magazine form factor, so I don't feel a need to give up just yet. Now I sound like the old guy...
Re: Automobile Magazine Cuts Staff And Fires Editor
I briefly looked into Zinio for my renewed C/D subscription. It was the same price. I'd rather hold it in my hands. And I don't trust an app when I can freely archive a paper rag.
