It would interesting to see what those demographics are. My bet would be the lion's share of those 400,000 in sales come from the 45-65 age bracket located primarily in the Northeast and West Coast.

I'm getting the feeling that those sub-45 buyers who are going to buy a midsize Japanese will lean more towards the Accord than the Camry; especially since (outside of California) Toyota isn't doing so well with attracting millennial buyers, who are gravitating more towards American and Korean Brands.

It will be interesting to see how far Toyota will go in increasing incentives in relation to the the number of boomers dropping out of the market. It should be very telling.

It's not that surprising that buying trends can seemingly be summed up by "the opposite of their parents." Boomers flocked to Japanese cars, after their parents drove all American iron. And the boomers kids are now looking at other choices. At least according to this. But I buy it.
