Yes!
Not enough focus on the build, but I guess it was pretty standard for an LS swap. They even used a GM e-Rod LS3 so I guess the results are actually more interesting (particularly given Pobst's involvement).

Re: M/T Ignition: 240SS project
I like how they keep mentioning that the new engine is lighter than the old one.
Also, the other 3 videos are pretty good too.

Re: M/T Ignition: 240SS project
The car pulls a lot of Gs but with a pro like Randy at the wheel, you can see the car needs further tweaks to get dialed in properly. You know, a lot of folks just put coil-overs on stuff and think "this handles well because it feels stiff." The car looks much harder to drive than some good OEM stuff I've seen him pilot. I guess for the cost of putting that car together, I can cut it some slack. But all I'm saying is I don't think it drastically out-handles some of the better OEM stuff, which is not something that would have been popular to say 10-20 years ago (mostly because it wasn't true).
Re: M/T Ignition: 240SS project
Remember, they didn't tune the suspension at all. They took it straight to the track (the Roadkill approach).
Re: M/T Ignition: 240SS project
They need to change ride height (and/or bump stops), spring rate and shock damping. Is the regular shade tree mechanic really prepared to do all that? I think people downplay the amount of engineering involved to really dial-in a suspension. People talk about coil-overs as a modification you "throw on." Use in a sentence: "Throw on a set of coil-overs and that [something like a 240SX or E36 or whatever fanboy machine you can envision] will out handle [something like a Corvette is a typical target for this comment]."
Re: M/T Ignition: 240SS project
The regular guy doing that stuff is not usually handing their car off to Randy Pobst to drive around a race track. The Corvette is usually a "benchmark" due to it being recognized as a performance vehicle that is obtainable unlike something more exotic. Most of those people probably have never driven a Corvette. That said, it probably does drive better than stock, even completely untuned.
To be completely fair, the only Corvette I have driven is an early C4 so I don't really know what I am talking about either.
I do hope they focus on dialing it in in the next couple episodes. Especially where they mention the car being capable enough to drop a few seconds off their Streets of Willow time.

Re: M/T Ignition: 240SS project
What I'm getting at is people do these mods, never dial it in, and drive it around on the street proclaiming they have the best handling thing ever. But not really.
Re: M/T Ignition: 240SS project
First, I would like to say that this is awesome. I personally would prefer a late 90's rx-7 if I were to do this, but that would blow the budget.

So many 14 year olds in the comments.....sigh.

From the Jalopnik thread:
I lol'd at that.My Dad has a 1993 Landcruiser and I don't think that it could pull the dick off of a chocolate mouse. It's without a doubt the slowest accelerating vehicle I've ever driven. And that's including the 1987 4-Runner I had with a 4 cylinder. I would drop a Chevy V8 in it in a heart beat.
