I was hoping this would be something juicy. Maybe related to his political stance on issues. But no. It's just dumb.

Meh, food is more interesting than politics any day.
Unfortunately, this makes him come off as some sort of a prima donna. but that may not be far from the truth...

Re: Clarkson and Top Gear
I guess I was hoping for super PC BBS to be essentially censoring Clarkson, and now that fans are rallying for his return, the network could hide behind the argument that "hey, it's not us - the fans want him back. We're still PC as ever but we are just doing what the majority wants."
That's not at all what seems to be happening, nor does it have anything to do with political correctness.

Accounts of the incident in the British media appear to agree on a scenario, based on comments by some of those present: Clarkson became angry after day of filming and allegedly verbally abused BBC producer Oisin Tymon before punching him, splitting his lip. Tymon reportedly required a hospital visit after the incident. The Mirror newspaper painted a picture of the incident that cited Clarkson's frustration with filming and production of the show, rather than food as had previously been reported, as the root cause of what the BBC called a "fracas."

Now he's selling a last lap with him around the Top Gear test track, for charity. Yikes.

Re: Clarkson and Top Gear
There is more to this story. You don't suspend a star of a show and cancel 3 episodes of a major money maker show because there was an altercation and somebody got punched. Let's be real. If Simon Cowell punched someone off camera in American Idol, they would never end the show early over it. Someone high up at the BBC must have already been pissed at Clarkson. He obviously was wrong to hit someone, but I think under normal circumstances, he would have been fined and that would have been it.
FREE CLARKSON!!!!
Wonder how much the BBC will lose over this. I feel most bad for May and Hammond. People really will boycott the show with out Clarkson, and they will be screwed unless another network grabs all three of them.

Re: Clarkson and Top Gear
His contract was up anyway, so they could have just let that lapse instead.
Re: Clarkson and Top Gear
That is true but BBC loses either way.
This show is huge, and will not be successful without the three of them. That is my opinion. If BBC breaks them up, I bet another network will take all 3.
I kind of think BBC is sucking up some massive free publicity, and then will release the episodes and resign the contracts, and look like the "good guy" reacting to fan petitions.
They can't be this dumb to let the show fall apart.
