I know it's a crossover but I think this is actually a fairly sharp looking vehicle, particularly with the optional 20" wheels and sport package (fasia upgrade, front and rear). I think Ed will approve of the color combo (silver on black is always a winner). Projector low AND high beams. It might even have projector fog lamps, but I'd have to look more closely.

There were actually 2 interior things broken/wrong.

1) The ashtray/12V plug drawer was falling out. It just wasn't attached. Using a screw driver to pry with I managed to get all the tabs/guides reinserted and it now works properly (press to release, press back to latch). Technically I fixed this on my test drive (sitting in my driveway actually). The other issue is the wood applique is just plain missing. Minor, and I can probably fix that fairly easily. At least it functions now.

2) 3 of the 4 dash vents don't adjust. Well, they do, but you have to adjust the louvers themselves. The center tab doesn't do anything (and is missing entirely on the left vent). Two of these may be able to be assembled (linkage). This is minor and I'm sure I will be able to fix it.

The interior itself is pretty decent quality, after the 07 redesign. The gauge cluster looks nice and premium, as it should. The gauges sweep with ignition on, like a lot of vehicles.

The lines in this one are rain/snow...

Plenty of rear seat room, unlike the CTS wagon.

The only really sketchy thing I found was this patched in wire that goes to what looks like a cam phaser.

The engine cover was also missing...actually, the DVD system remote was also missing. Haha.

I pick it up Monday after work.

Tirerack shows 15 all-season tires in 255/50-20. Nominal price: $200/tire. Yay.

Fun fact: The OE tire for the 20s was the Goodyear Eagle RS-A. The tire I love to hate.

Fun fact #2: The car currently wears a set of them.

I forgot to throw up my CTS wagon pictures:

I really liked this car as a car. Jamie liked it also. But that rear seat kinda sucks for what it is.

Saw this in the SRX manual:
The second row seat can be adjusted forward or rearward. Pull up on the lever under the seat cushion and slide the seat.
Excuse me? Is this like the Malibu Maxx? I must investigate this.

Manual shift mode:
The transmission will not automatically shift to the next higher gear if the engine RPM is too high.
Bob will approve. I did try sport mode and it did feel sprightlier for what that's worth.

Also, there is a tow/haul button on the dash. Does that mean this thing has V92 towing, too??

This is kind of like the Duramax trucks with Allison 1000:
Grade Braking
Grade Braking assists when driving on a downhill grade. It maintains the vehicle’s speed by automatically implementing a shift schedule that uses the engine and the transmission to slow the vehicle. This reduces wear on the brakes system and increases control of the vehicle. The system constantly monitors the vehicle’s speed, acceleration, throttle position, and whether the brake pedal is being pressed, and determines when to keep the current vehicle speed or to slow down. The system will then automatically command downshifts that reduces the vehicles speed, until the brake pedal is
no longer being pressed. This indicates the desired vehicle speed has been reached.

More fun from the manual:
Electric Power Management
The vehicle has Electric Power Management (EPM) that estimates the battery’s temperature and state of charge. It then adjusts the voltage for best
performance and extended life of the battery.

When the battery’s state of charge is low, the voltage is raised slightly to quickly put the charge back in. When the state of charge is high, the voltage is lowered slightly to prevent overcharging. If the vehicle has a voltmeter gage or a voltage display on the Driver Information Center (DIC), you may see the voltage move up or down. This is normal. If there is a problem, an alert will be displayed.

The battery can be discharged at idle if the electrical loads are very high. This is true for all vehicles. This is because the generator (alternator) may not be spinning fast enough at idle to produce all the power that is needed for very high electrical loads.

A high electrical load occurs when several of the following loads are on: headlamps, high beams, fog lamps, rear window defogger, climate control fan at high speed, heated seats, engine cooling fans, trailer loads, and loads plugged into accessory power outlets.

EPM works to prevent excessive discharge of the battery. It does this by balancing the generator’s output and the vehicle’s electrical needs. It can increase engine idle speed to generate more power, whenever needed. It can temporarily reduce the power demands of some accessories.

Normally, these actions occur in steps or levels, without being noticeable. In rare cases at the highest levels of corrective action, this action may be noticeable to the driver. If so, a Driver Information Center (DIC) message might be displayed, such as Battery Saver Active or Service Battery Charging System. If this message is displayed, it is recommended that the driver reduce the electrical loads as much as possible.
That's fairly sophisticated. Side note: I did notice the CTS was charging at 15.1V on the DIC. Maybe it has the same system and it detected the battery SOC was low. That's cool.

Speed limiter:
This message displays when your vehicle speed is limited to 80 mph (128 km/h) because the vehicle detects a problem in the speed variable assist steering, magnetic ride control, or automatic leveling control systems.
For safety.

TIGHTEN GAS CAP
This message displays when the fuel cap has not been
fully tightened. Recheck the fuel cap to ensure that it
is on and tightened properly.
Ha, that's an actual warning that can appear on the DIC.

I should mention that I wasn't planning, at all, on buying a car this weekend, or especially before we close on the house. In fact, this was the first time Jamie had actually test drove a single car (despite this thread being 1 year old and her wish to replace her car older than that).

One thing that helped is the salesman who turned out to be like exactly my age and is a gearhead. The other thing is he let me take both the CTS wagon and the SRX home, unsupervised, to my house to let Jamie try it out without the pressure of being at/around the dealer. It does make a difference.

The third thing is that this endeavor was kind of the anti-indecision (to the indecision that has plagued me a bit), and the antithesis of spending the last 6 months trying to buy this house.

This was clearly a response to people bringing their cars into the dealer for gas cap CELs.
