Apparently I can get an OnStar "Gen 8.1" module from a junkyard (or eBay), P/N 20787642 and install it in place of the factory OnStar module. Then I have to perform the following procedure:
The last part is probably not necessary if I don't plan to use OnStar but I guess I could try and say I may re-subscribe or something. I think it integrates the phone with the nav and all that. This may be worth looking into. If I am driving the SRX, chances are we're going to CT. Hands-free law there...- Just look for the correct part number for your Onstar module: 25990227=gen 8, 20787642=gen 8.1 (vehicle and options don't matter)
- Take the car to the deal after installation and have them do an "Onstar setup procedure"
- Call Onstar and have them associate the module to your VIN
I still don't think this supports A2DP (different module) but I really want it for calling (and integration with existing mic, and nav display, plus radio/fan muting). In my CTS-V I have an aftermarket module called Galaxy 1000 that completely replaced my OnStar module. This would be a more factory way to get Bluetooth calling.
