That proves my point. This crowd would rather find a cherry 91 to start with, than trade cosmetic flaws for something like a B4U. Which is why I should contact the guy and just offer my $1500 so I can be done with this.

The ones that are left are now being neglected to the point where they will soon be worth scrap value at the junkyard.

Speaking of that, scrap value is something to consider. Not sure what a B body goes for now, but normal cars are in the $300-500 range. Considering the weight differential, I would expect a B-body to bring in ~$700 if you brought it there. You can't expect to find a very nice specimen for only 2x scrap. That is always what holds up the bottom of the market for used cars. No one is going to sell one for less than scrap, so adjust your expectations accordingly. Scrap tends to follow inflation (and is arbitrarily increased by things like metal shortages).
You bring up a valid point. The last cheap car I bought was in 2008. So, I'm an old man, I'm mad that the world is changing, and get off my lawn.

I'm also mad that I can't go out and drop $11k on a used Caprice PPV, for example. I have other expenses.

You could buy a used PPV if you sold the CTS-V... That thing's not really doing you much good anyways.. I suspect its more of a source of worry than anything else.. And they're not giving you much of an insurance discount for driving it 11 miles a year, I bet.

Bonus: you can keep your current caprice, until something important rusts off.

Double bonus: you may actually make some money on that deal, further improving the monetary situation.

But I'm still in the 'roadkill that B4U up here' camp. Just think... You may be saving it from getting Lambo doors.

No way. I will take it off insurance for the winter this time and save some cash. It may be a small source of worry in my garage, but far less than the last time I drove it to work and they were repaving Rt 4 and I got showered with asphalt garbage. I'd rather drive a nice car infrequently, though, than not own one at all. It's depreciating very slowly anyway.

Also the used PPV is hardly my dream car. It just seems to be the obvious choice, at least in theory.

If only I wanted to drive a Crown Vic, this situation would be simpler.

I think the whole thing sounds great, and would be fun. But then I'd get the car back and be like...ok great, I have two Caprices in my driveway and I don't have the time to dedicate to them that I once did (like an entire weekend).

Look what I found as the lowest price Premium listing on Auto Trader (found after Bryan's badgering):
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale ... 0098&Log=0

See that list of maintenance shit? I wanted that list for the 96. Now this is way over my price range but for a real SS, it is a very good value I think.

And swing with me the other way on the WORST value on autotrader (ironically the lowest priced STANDARD listing):

One of the better Caprice Wagon ads I have read in a while. http://eastnc.craigslist.org/cto/5304022174.html Tough to beat the price too.

That was good. I see it has the rare "big block" 350.

His use of LEO reminds me of old 9C1 conversations on Yahoo groups. Maybe he's an old enthusiast.
