http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/5334079705.html No pictures, but sounds interesting and the price is reasonable.

So he insists the powertrain is solid. What about the rest? Ok, no rust. Paint? Interior? Bill needs a rust-free chassis with a complete interior that isn't trashed.

The word restore makes me a bit nervous...

I think you are missing something: it says right in the title that the car is a great deal.

I think I should clarify what I need.

Top priority is rust free and an SS.
Second priority is burgundy interior, unless the car is the blue color, which had the blue and white interior.
Third priority bucket seats.

The condition of the entire interior doesn't have to be perfect, I am capable of fixing/replacing interior pieces, I just want the right color and configuration (buckets) so I don't have to modify the gear selector from the steering wheel to the floor. At least if I start with the right configuration I would hopefully only have to replace select damaged things, rather than the whole interior.

Other preferences: No T-Tops, working AC. Other options don't really matter. Posi would be nice, but the rear will likely have to be upgraded down the road anyway.
Things that matter much less: Exterior paint color (I like most of the factory options: Black, White, Burgundy, Blue), original drivetrain.

I basically don't want to pay a premium for a fully stock low mileage car, I am willing to fix interior, and go with high mileage stock drivetrain or non stock drivetrain to save money.
I am not skilled enough in body work, so that is the place where I would really like a good rust free exterior.

This is a really nice example, but it is probably better suited to a collector who wants to keep it stock: http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/5364663281.html

Yeah that is immaculate. That is also a lot to pay to basically strip it down mechanically. I agree. I would be better off looking for something with engine problems but still drove to verify that it drove straight. Even to try to sell the stock parts, there really doesn't seem like much demand. It really would be a waste to break this down.

No one wants an L69.

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/5368922826.html Another fairly nice, but not cheap example. Interior looks a bit faded, but appears to be complete.

That interior seems quite faded, but complete. I forget what Bill says about white. Probably not a huge fan.
