The big difference between this car and a turbo LQ4 with 700 rwhp is drivability. This needs a pretty loose converter and thus is ridiculous on the street, though you can obviously drive it. The fuel economy that it gets would probably stun an old schooler. But compare that to how nice the Sloppy Colorado drives.

From what I can see:
Positives:
Looks decent underneath for the year, I think.
probably decently quick to drive as is for a while.
Sounds good running if you follow the youtube link.
Has the better 80's engine and transmission than what came with it.
Negatives:
Possible rust (Maybe minor on the rear wheel wells)
Rust above passenger window?
cracked dash.
No heat or AC - how involved would adding AC back be? I am actually probably alright with no heat but no AC sucks since I would be driving this when it is warm/hot.
Wrong rims.
Stupid word decals that should just peel off???

Solid engine specs. No factory gauges hooked up (except maybe Speedo). Runs and drives. You would need to source an HVAC unit. The whole thing. Looks like he removed it entirely and patched the firewall with some sheet metal. I guess this could have a couple options.
I could drive it as is for a while (few years), just not on real hot days, which isn't a big deal, we don't generally get many.
If I am serious about this one being swapped in the future, I should take care of the rust on the exterior. Not sure what that will look like if I sand it down and prime and paint it against 30 year old faded paint... The car could really use a paint job, but that is not cheap. I am pretty impressed how the paint held up though. It is looking way better than my 13 year old Corolla paint job.
Maybe when I do the swap down the road, I try to find a chevy 6.0 van that was in a crash, cheap, and then I could potentially use all of the HVAC from that along with the drivetrain?

Honestly, if this would be pretty quick as it is built, I don't even care about the HVAC. I would be more concerned with the exterior rust, which doesn't seem that bad, but I don't have a good handle on what it would cost to get fixed. The interior isn't bad, and I would feel comfortable eventually putting in a new dash down the road. There are 2 lights lit on the dash in the video, I am sure one is probably the check engine.

The check engine light is on because none of the ECM controls are attached to the engine.
