Pretty solid competition:
Bentley Continental GT3-R (the inclusion of this car is just dumb and I don't really see the point - it is nearly 5,000 lbs)
Cadillac ATS-V coupe
Corvette Z06
Viper ACR
Ferrari 488 GTB
Mustang GT350R
Mercedes AMG GT S (this car is legit)
Cayman GT4
Spoiler alert: GT350R won.
So why don't they build more GT350Rs?
Some ideas:
1) Artificially keeping production numbers down to drive interest up and maximize value as a halo car, and possibly to keep collectors happy (does Ford care about this?)
2) Perhaps they are not making much of a profit, or any profit, on this car.
3) As with any upset type car where the value appears to be "unreal," the ratio of the hype surrounding a car to people with actual wallets stocked with legal tender tends to run to stratospheric levels
Markup is going to be insane with these. And they are making so few that I think you can consider the car unavailable. Every other car in the list is available for around its as tested price, I would wager. Perhaps not coincidentally, every other car has a higher as-tested price.
All that said, the Camaro SS is about as good as the regular GT350 by all accounts accept a direct comparison (why have we not seen one??). I think it is entirely possible that a Camaro Z28 could go toe to toe with the GT350R, which would be great, as the GT350R appears to be very good.
R/T 2016 Performance car of the year
Re: R/T 2016 Performance car of the year
The same thing happened when they released the Fort GT. I'm pretty sure all of them sold at $50k+ over MSRP.kevm14 wrote: Markup is going to be insane with these.
