I actually have a newfound respect for the Juke after having one for a rental a couple weeks ago. It was one of the more fun to drive rentals I have had in a while. The steering is fairly quick and the chassis is decent. I wouldn't mind trying out a Nismo Juke at some point.
I think the problem with the Juke is it's a tiny crossover (the height of which provides no gain and all loss) with a tiny engine that doesn't get very good fuel economy.
The Juke certainly doesn't offer much utility. The economy wasn't terrible (I was getting mid to high 20s cruising at around 80 in the midwest), but the cruising range was pretty annoying.
I actually didn't see much of a drop off in the little city driving I did. The CVT seemed to do a good job there. I would like to try out a NISMO one with the 6-speed manual. I think it could be fairly entertaining.
The one Tony is getting is a 6-speed. But there's nothing about it that is superior to something like a MS3. So I don't really understand the attraction unless it's just SO eccentric that it's interesting.
Looking at 2012 and 2013 Jukes on fuelly, the mileage appears to be quite acceptable with 29.x overall. http://www.fuelly.com/car/nissan/juke That's actually significantly better than you'd get in a MS3 so maybe that counts as some type of advantage
Just dug in a bit deeper on the Juke mileage. Looks like there is a diesel version in the UK bringing up the average. Still, there are many US market ones getting good overall mileage.
