Chevy SS replacement possible?

Once again, GM states that the SS is selling as it was planned. What they need is a new plan.

This is the best fullsize sedan driver's car available with a manual transmission that I can think of, that isn't a CTS-V. It would be nice for them to try to sell some copies while gas prices are still favorable. Then I can buy one used in 10 years.

It was 6 years ago that I was looking at 5 year old CTS-Vs in this price range.

Just because non car buying community wants it does not mean that they should continue making it. Look at Mitsubitshi. They for the longest time focued on EVOlution, only to find few buyers. I think now they have the right strategy, manufacture what sells in large numbers.

I would say that we have enough RWD sedans available that compete with SS and do a better job in luxury (300 and Genesis) and Power (Hellcats) that we have no need for SS.It can go away, and will never be missed.

Yeah the 300, Genesis and Charger are totally the exact same thing as the SS.

You're right. I'll just go over and buy one of those other vehicles with a manual that has as good of handling... Oh wait. The problem is not that we have enough RWD sedans, it's that we have enough generic and boring to drive automatic RWD sedans that are boats when it comes to the corners. The SS breaks that mold and is most certainly warranted. Sorry, but the SS is not even remotely more of the same old, same old. Some of us actually want a driver's oriented vehicle. There's no need to conform every single vehicle on the market to what everyone else wants.

Agreed! A mid 40's asking price, under 4000lbs AND 400+ hp? That list is really short. I think it's Camaro, Mustang and the SS only. If you want a back seat with that, guess what?

It's true! Under 4,000 lbs and 400+ HP, fully loaded for mid $40s. Look around - this is it. That's before you even add further distinguishing characteristics such as a good back seat, a properly sorted chassis and a manual trans. It is in very rare territory.

I would have to agree, having sat in an SS a while back.

I don't know what it is about the SS but it just doesn't look good in photos. The first time I saw it in person I was shocked. It is a great looking car and the interior is pretty upscale as well.

I have no issue with the styling if you can allow it its own identity (and not trying to be a Chevrolet version of the Charger). But I can also understand the criticisms.
