Is the Fusion on the chopping block?
Re: Is the Fusion on the chopping block?
Yeah, I would say it is very comparable. Seems weird that selling 2-300,000 cars/yr is a problem...
Re: Is the Fusion on the chopping block?
Let's compare to large sedans and see what the difference is.
Charger: 105
Impala: 105
Maxima: 98
Taurus: 102
Some really interesting stuff has just emerged. One, I think goodcarbadcar's size classes are all screwed up. And two, the Taurus is actually a little smaller than the Fusion (that's a fail - they need to get the Taurus on CD4, making a low line Continental with a Ford badge - Continental is 106/16 btw which makes it Accord/Sonata size). Also, the Accord and Sonata are both larger than anything on this list (by 1 cubic foot admittedly).
Trunk:
Charger: 16
Impala: 19
Maxima: 14
Taurus: 20
Impala is looking pretty good here with a good interior and trunk space combined. EPA says the following are the actual classifications, which I think add interior to cargo:
Midsize cars are:
Maxima
Fusion
Camry
Altima
Malibu
Large cars are:
Charger
Impala
Taurus
Accord
Sonata
I think anything over 125 ft^3 combined is EPA large. Good car bad car is Canadian based. I will e-mail them again and see what they say.
Let me redo my sales charts with these correct groupings.

Probably worth pointing out that some of these used to be midsize and only recently transitioned to large. The Taurus looks like a real loser here though. Frankly the Impala, after switching to Epsilon II (and becoming a genuinely good car), has also taken a dump...

Re: Is the Fusion on the chopping block?
It is hard to understand why Nissan keeps the Maxima and Altima since they are so close to each other.Maxima is a weird car...
