Hyundai Tucson...turbo?

Post by kevm14 »

I saw a first gen Tucson on my way to work this morning. He kind of flew up going up the Jamestown bridge. It was a V6 but he had added a "turbo" badge that looked maybe like a Porsche 944 badge above the V6 badge. Sleeper? I didn't try to engage to find out, which would have definitely cleared things up - the V6 has 173 hp.

I think the V6 is the same lame-ass engine as the Rondo. I would take a nice Japanese 4 cylinder over that engine any day.

Interestingly enough, the 2016 Tuscon offers a 1.6L turbo with 175 HP and 195 lb-ft (from 1500-4500 RPM). This engine comes with a 7-speed DCT transmission. I might have to try to find this in a rental fleet sometime just to see if it's any good.

That V6 reminds me of the lame Suzuki 2.5L V6 that they put in the Grand Vitara.
