The Smoking Tire: 2015 Suburban at the FIRM

Yes! Bob showed up at my parents house early this year with a 2015 Suburban LTZ, so naturally I test drove it and immediately went to 8/10ths on a familiar on ramp. We were both impressed because it actually settled in and didn't feel terrible. So I can personally say, I validate this video.

An observation I had is that, aside from having a good time, you can tell he didn't really want to stop driving it. He kept finding one more thing to do. That's because hooning the wrong thing is the best.

A choice quote from the show, which I will paraphrase, is that he felt a transmission vibration that went away, and he theorized that it just hadn't been on enough race tracks.

Another comment from Matt was that this would be way better as a chase car than the minivans they typically use. Ha.

Some choice comments:
Tow/Haul actually makes a decent sport mode for pickups or SUVs so equipped which I assume the Suburban is.
You had WAY more fun in this then the Gallardo
Jeremy Clarkson said "the fastest car in the world is a hired (rental) car". Have fun
Take one to the Streets At Willow and give us a real review
I actually amused myself thinking of Randy Pobst making serious comments about this on a track.
I'm sure Enterprise is going to be thrilled to see this lol
I was thinking about that. If pressed, I bet he/his show would say that it was a manufacturer-provided vehicle as long as his name or the show's name wasn't on the rental agreement (so they effectively couldn't find the record).

Uh oh.
FYI to anyone purchasing a 2015 GM. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra Denali only 10k miles and I have the same nasty transmission vibration, Doesn't do it all the time. GM said that they have a "service bulletin" to replace the converter in the transmission. Problem is, they don't make another converter and couldn't tell me a date that it will be available. So im stuck with a $52,000.00 truck that vibrates like crazy!! GM needs to get on there game or I will not be buying again from them
I have a theory on what the issue is. In certain applications GM has used some kind of fancy torque converter clutch design that is supposed to dampen engine "pulses." It is called ECCC:
GM’s proprietary electronic controlled capacity clutch (ECCC) technology. ECCC uses a small, regulated amount of slip to dampen out engine pulses. This creates a smoother running drivetrain, especially during shift events.
If that was not working properly, maybe it could actually cause vibes.
