Yes. The comments address it.

I was surprised the LS3 actually made a tiny bit more torque per cubic inch.

Also, the way they compared average power/torque made me realize something. If one engine makes less torque but revs higher, it's hard to say which is better because you could gear the higher revving one down and put more power to the ground. But that's exactly what the average HP tells you. HP already takes into account torque and RPM (power is power) and the LS3 made more average power over the same RPM bandwidth. So there you go.

Just to bring it home at the end:

Even the Fox body guys are putting LS motors in their Fords.

So I'd also argue that they had to work to get the Coyote down to $10k (though some folks say they could have done it more affordably). The guys in the video at least said they had to work at it.

Meanwhile I'd argue they put a hell of a lot of money into the LS3 to get it up to $10k. Like a brand new block, which is clearly not necessary (the Ford came from an F150 junkyard engine!). I mean my god, of all of the strengths of the LS, the junkyard pedigree is one of the strongest. And they didn't even use it.

What is it? Oh just a Chevrolet Performance LS3 putting out (THROUGH the included exhaust manifolds):

525 HP @ 6300 RPM, 489 ft. lbs. of torque @ 4400 RPM

It is MOSTLY complete:

• Oil pump, pick-up and Camaro oil pan
• Exhaust Manifolds
• EFI Intake with fuel rails, injectors and throttle body
• 14” Auto Trans Flexplate

• Aluminum Water Pump
• Oil Filter
• Passenger Side RH Oil Dipstick and Tube
• GM Recommended Torque Converter Stall 3000-3400

But not quite:

As delivered, the LS376/525 includes the intake manifold, with the injectors, fuel rail and throttle body already installed, along with the water pump and ignition system. Front-end accessories must be obtained separately, along with the engine controller kit. Chevrolet Performance offers several accessory drive kits to suit a variety of applications and some installations for older vehicles will require the oil pan changed.

The best part that is key:

What does this crate engine cost?
$7,300. Shipped. And I do not believe there is a core charge. That's value. And we all know you can Sloppy build one that puts out 600-700 rwhp for that money.

The obvious next step is to compare outputs with similar turbos connected.

Well the Coyote heads will flow really well even stock. So the power potential is there. I'm more interested in the cost to reliability ratio.
