2015 Drakan Spyder - Leno's Garage

Post by Bob »

This looks like a ton (exactly a ton) of fun. I was hoping for more flat out acceleration in the videos. I am guessing a car like this even with the complete stock LS3 should run low 11s @ high 120s. The chassis also seems to be very well done. I would love to take this on a dragon run.

I think it is too fast for The Dragon. No?

This does look awesome though. That Porsche transaxle is so common in this kind of car, too.

It actually seems pretty well engineered.

From:

Your ET / MPH computed from your vehicle weight of 2000 pounds and HP of 430 is 9.72 seconds and MPH of 138.99 MPH.
I dunno about all that...

I would guess subtract MPH for the less ideal Cd. Then subtract ET due to not having drag tires, drag suspension, etc. So....mid to high 10s @ 130? I guess that's not far off low 11s @ high 120s.

Hard to tell from the video but it didn't seem THAT fast.

It seemed like he went too easy on it in the video. I would like to see someone really flog this thing. Also, the suspension seems well adapted for the dragon and other back roads. It is reasonably compliant and very balanced.

By the way, the company that makes this car, Sector111, is a big aftermarket source for the Elise so they understand how to make a good chassis. Interesting piece of trivia: the '111' comes from the chassis code for the Elise (USDM Elise is 111R).

Yeah, that F1 pushrod suspension lets you do things with the spring rate that would be hard with conventional suspension/spring. I like how it's compliant and then builds spring rate quickly with suspension compression (like when cornering). It also keeps wheel travel under control, like under big dips or bumps.
