Alternate title: what you can buy if the new Colorado/Canyon is still not car-like and refined enough.

The spectrum looks like this:
Tacoma: Least changed, most trucky
Colorado/Canyon: still a real truck, much more car-like behavior and refinement
Ridgeline: it's really a Pilot with a bed, but maybe that's what you want

My gut says that brand loyalty is pretty strong in this segment.

A Pilot with a truck bed is probably all a lot of urban and suburban truck owners really need. The question is will it be as successful as the Lexus RX300 was when Toyota figured out that consumers didn't need a body on frame SUV; they only wanted a lifted Camry with a bigger trunk. My guess is probably not since a greater percentage of truck buyers still believe they need a real truck.

Someone recently made a comment that Americans' love for hatchbacks is directly proportional to the ride height/ground clearance.
