Ugh. It is not 1995 anymore! Or 1989...
Quick skim of the article reveals the alternate title: 2016 Maxima SR has some advantages over a V6 Charger.
$40k FWD sedan with 14.5 @ 99.3. Snooze.
I don't think this car can make an objective case for itself in 2016. I think the one thing I can say for it is the 3,544 lb curb weight is pretty reasonable. Hardly a ringing endorsement.
2016 Nissan Maxima SR: 4DSC?
Re: 2016 Nissan Maxima SR: 4DSC?
I have rented a couple of these recently. The car does have some advantages over other similar rentals (standard nav in all trim levels, pretty fast on a highway roll). I wouldn't say the chassis is particularly rewarding though. It's a nice enough car for chewing up some highway miles and I will probably rent it again.
Re: 2016 Nissan Maxima SR: 4DSC?
The new Impala might actually be the better choice for your stated need. I mean if we are comparing FWD sedans. It even matches the figure 8 of the Maxima SR. Stops better, too..that's kind of embarrassing. It is down 0.03 G on grip and probably only due to tires. The Impala is clearly not marketed as a sport sedan.
Re: 2016 Nissan Maxima SR: 4DSC?
Yeah, the Impala is also on my list of cars good for long highway runs, as is the 300. I like that Apple CarPlay seems to be in most of the 2016 Impalas.
