I bought this exact drive on 7/30/14 for $179. It has been flawless. The only issues reading reviews are the occasional DOA or infant mortality. Which is the only failure mode of a hard drive/hardware I really accept, since you find out early. The "NAS" part of these drives, or at least one part, is a 1,000,000 hour MTBF rating.
If you want a single partition, I think you have to reformat using GPT and I also think this is only possible on 64-bit systems. The good news is, you probably have that by now.
You don't need a NAS for this to work by the way. I just have one in my Dell minitower which holds....well, everything, ever. Including a backup of my DVD rips that are on my HTPC. I then back up select important stuff from that to a 1TB portable HD. But I digress...
