Because it is a great platform. This is an SS. Different front bumper/grill and a wrap. That's it. Even has the factory wheels just blacked out. Then reportedly 6 or 7 grand in performance mods to get it up to almost 700 rwhp (that price may also include the coil over suspension upgrade). The result is reliable, comfortable, even reasonable as a cruiser, but wicked when prodded. It's all I ever wanted.
