99 Ram: failed inspection for frame

It's pronounced "chassy." Brakes, suspension...things that make the car fun or a death trap

99 Ram: failed inspection for frame

Post by kevm14 »

Yay. Runs out good, needs frame?

It's that section I already said was bad. Basically a 4 foot section starting in front of the fuel tank, on the driver's side. It is supposed to be boxed but it's pretty opened up at the bottom.

I'll take it to my guy in Warwick and see what he says first. Further decisions would include his opinion on not just this part but the rest of the frame (guaranteed he'll ask if I am keeping or not). I could attempt to fix it with my welder (which is also in Warwick). There are options. But now this needs to be addressed because the sticker is due this month.

Got it back. Repair consisted of:
- 3' of new boxed section on both sides
- Repaired both doors (bottom edge was getting bad on driver's side and was totally gone on passenger side)
- Checked my rear crossmembers and concluded that things were solid so he primed

$1500 OTD. I'll try to get some pics on here.
