You should know what this is. If not, you probably roll your windows down a lot.

99 Ram: HVAC blower

Post by kevm14 »

Went with a Four Seasons. OEM was Denso but I think mice and other stuff caused it to get very squeaky. The new fan seems to have done the trick.

I did have to swap the very dry rotted gasket over, plus the noise reducing motor cover.

Original blower resistor lost low speed. Plus there was a mouse thing in the fan causing a vibration. Removed the fan, found an acorn. Removed the resistor. Ceramic was cracked. It probably overheated because I found junk in a bypass air tube that runs near it and there was other mouse junk on top of the resistor. Blew/vacuumed stuff out and put a Standard Motor Products resistor in. Back to working order. This is what happens when vehicles sit outside. It's not good.

I think spending more on a nicer truck that Ian can drive makes more sense than giving him the Malibu. Yes the Malibu gets way better gas mileage and is more practical (easier to park, etc) but I don't really care about that. If he wants to joy ride he can put gas in it. And he can learn to park it.
