2014 Lightning Lap: where is it?

Post by kevm14 »

I found this thread: http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/1071994 ... tning-lap/

S2000 guys are waiting for it. But evidently VIR was repaved. That kind of sucks for continuity between years tested. I guess they could bring some previously tested cars to get a new baseline? Or just not compare to previous years (sucky).

Apparently my C&D subscription lapsed at a very inconvenient time. I thought it expired in August 15 but apparently it is August 14. So I can't read the latest Lightning Lap. This is pretty cruel. The Z/28 caused a pretty big upset.

For now, here's a long term update from their 2014 Stingray (which they took to VIR). Engine blew at 6,000 miles. Apparently it was an oil filter issue which contaminated the oil with some kind of junk. Hopefully GM didn't switch to Fram...

I have to live vicariously though other people talking about the article until I can pick up a copy from a newsstand in the airport tomorrow.

Motor Trend took a Z/28 and 1LE Camaro and swapped tires. The results are interesting.

I think that it is pretty awesome that GM decided that they should make a Camaro in 2014 that can have 5 totally unique suspensions.

V6 version, SS, 1LE, ZL1, Z-28. As of today, you can get a commuter Camaro all the way to a Camaro with Magna-ride or F1 suspension.

I can't wait to see the Gen 6 options.

Oh yeah, and when was the last time a Camaro beat a Corvette on the track, even if the Camaro was more money?

I can't wait to see what the Grand National will do.

Quote from a commenter on this article:
When Corvette goes fast with big, sticky tires, it's the tires doing all the work. When Porsche goes fast with big, sticky tires, it's an engineering/tuning masterpiece.
Yup.
