You know a Surface Pro 3 would actually be a great replacement for my tablet and laptop, sometime down the road a bit. Very interesting. Someone on the forum mentioned that tablets go through xray at the airport without being removed from the bag (unless you have Pre Check). I also think they have in-flight advantages. If I recall, phones and tablets were allowed to be used through the whole flight while laptops only at altitude, which I think is a weight thing.

Intel HD 5000? Wow. That's not Iris (which requires a 28W or 47W TDP CPU, so not ULV) but it's something (a 2013 MacBook Air also shipped with HD 5000 graphics).

Here's a comparison of the Haswell HD 5000 to the HD 4400, and also to the HD 4000 (from Ivy Bridge). The HD 5000 seems to be worth about 10-20% GPU increase over the HD 4400, which would be used to inform the Surface Pro 3 SKU selection.
