Ranger top speed run

Post by kevm14 »

Not really. Though I found out that driving with both windows down and the rear sliding windows open causes a significant amount of drag.

I also found out that the speedo is fairly accurate to around 70mph then it gets a little optimistic. Indicated 85mph is actually 82 or 83. Also, it'll do about 86 on flat road (maybe a tad more), will do a WOT 3-4, and I topped out at 88mph on the way back from Old Lyme returning the pressure washer. I was following some old guy in an ATS 2.0 and a Porsche Panamera GTS.

What was that saying about how it's more fun to drive the slow car fast? :)

It reminded me of the Corolla days, except the Ranger is heavier and less aerodynamic. Same horsepower and more torque though.

The Corolla could hit an indicated 112... eventually.

My Tercel(s) could hit an indicated 100mph. On a slight downward slope.
