I was going to post this in the Cadillac thread but I decided to give it its own.
I couldn't help but draw a little bit of a parallel between VW and Apple. VW, like Apple, somehow rises above the chaff and can still charge for a "premium experience" while everyone else tries to compete. Meanwhile, in the phone space, the only thing that can compete with Apple is Samsung and they are actually beginning to lose money on their phone business. Apple products just make people feel good. They feel good spending money. VW products, while not premium priced, are seen as premium products for the most part.
Now Lincoln has taken a safe, more modest approach and currently it seems to be working. But I think Cadillac's approach, in the context of this article, is the better move. Plus, the product (speaking as a car guy) is 1000x better.
