Interesting history. Was supposed to be a rebadged Ram but that fell through with Fiat. So it's all Nissan but they did score a win with the new 5.0L Cummins V8 diesel. Cue me being annoyed about the stillborn Duramax 4500. GM had this engine on the shelf FIVE years ago but their financial situation prevented them from putting it to use.

Gah, so irritated.
Duramax 4500 was to have around 310 hp and 520 lb-ft. Five years ago. Did I mention it had the footprint of the small block and thus could fit anywhere the small block could? That would have been amazing. Or how about a G8 with the Duramax 4500? They literally had all the parts to make that. Five years ago. So many interesting options. While the Cummins diesel’s 310 horsepower at 3200 rpm is weak compared with a modern gas V-8’s output, its 555 lb-ft of torque at 1600 revs positively shames every other light-duty truck engine on the market
