Replacement Shop Air Compressor

I wish the forum admins would come up with a category for shop equipment, but cest la vie. Posting where I thought best. I think I may finally need to buy the first "real" air compressor for my shop. The one that I have there now is probably a ~2hp, TBD CFM, 25ish gallon horizontal tank un...

Re: Extra car for teen drivers

Contemplating checking the 2018 in North Conway, NH (last post) tomorrow on the way home. Not sure what I think a 2018 in comparable condition to the 2015's I've been looking at. Looks like $11,500 is about where the 2015's are. $13000 seems like it might be OK for a 2018. Not sure how to do a good ...

Re: 2001 GMC K2500HD

Worked great coming back from our Mt. Washington Scout trip - had it on 2-3 fan setting and recirc, 95 deg+ on the way home.

Re: 2001 GMC K2500 HD 219k Mile Service

Oh yeah - should probably do front pads and lube calipers - driver's side looked like it was more worn on the inner pad. Rear pads are low-ish and it's probably time. Rear calipers look pretty crusty, so it's probably time for another set of those (put these on in 2012... nothing lasts :-) )

2001 GMC K2500 HD 219k Mile Service

Oil change, transmission fluid/spin-on filter change, rotated tires Held off on changing the air filter, but when I found that there was a stored turbo boost code I changed it. Looks like the code is still present/occurring under likely max boost conditions (2k RPM, heavy load). I'm suspicious of a ...

2014 WK2 167k Service

Normal oil change, oil filter, air filter, rotated tires. Cleaned out bottom wells of both rear airbags that were full of clay/sand. Rags, air, and eventually water hose to try to flush it all out. I don't think the airbag sits low enough to hit the bottom of the wells, but I'd rather they be clean ...

Re: 2001 GMC K2500 General Maintenance

I lied again - I thought it was the washer based on the oil puddling on the lifter valley V. Turns out it was the Gates line weeping somewhere in the stainless braid and goobering down to the fitting. Took reinstalling and letting it idle for 10 minutes for it to start goobering again, and then I sa...
