Passed inspection. In 22 minutes.

Received a record number of comments/compliments for whatever reason. Mostly that it is a cool car and looks a lot newer than it is, and is in very good shape.

Can't bring myself to buy a whole engine cover just for a Mercedes logo - even I have my limits. But I will attempt a hacky fix.

First, I measured it. About 75 mm across.

Then I remembered I have a new E55 trunk star that I never installed. Threw that on the cover to check fitment. Too big.

Measured 85 mm. Also there is supposed to be maybe a black background or something. I don't know how crafty I feel. But I did buy this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/235839565876

Just has some 3M tape on it. Worse case I clean the cover better and stick it on there. Beats $300 for sure.

Actually this is what it is supposed to look like:

Wish I could source this. I'll look around more but at least I have a star coming that I could stick on.

M137 engine cover seems to use the same thing but they are all destroyed as well.

I guess I didn't document the exact mileage that I bought my E63, but it was somewhere between 98,290 and 97,863. Perhaps call it 98k then.

Has just over 110,000 now. Bought it 3/19/23. 2 years, 2-1/2 months. 12k.

Let me compare to the E55. It's close.

If you start from the day I picked the E55 up to the day I totaled it, that is 2 days LESS than my current E63 ownership. So it's the same. Mileage wise I think the E55 was more around 13k but I need to double check.

The Copart auction said 143,272 and since it couldn't be driven after the accident (on the road), I would say that was the number. So I guess 13,xxx miles.

Also keep in mind I did take a ~2,100 mile trip to NC in the E55. More TW back then though.

A/C sticker was falling apart and finally fell off as I wiped down the engine bay after washing it last weekend. Fortunately I could still make out the P/N and ordered it. $16. A2128170120

I looked in EPC and didn't see anything else for my VIN so the extra slots must be for other markets.

Slightly too large. If I could find a suitable mesh to go underneath that would probably solve it.
