I know it passed the level 1 test drive, but now I feel like I'm rolling the dice a little bit on LT1 crap at 163k, like water pump, WP driveshaft seal, opti, trans, AIR pump (if it even works - did the hood light work?), heater hose T, EGR, ICM or even the alternator. At least it doesn't need the 96 coil, being a 96. It's not that I'm afraid of this stuff, but I also don't think I am getting much of a discount for these items being original, since no one has explained all of the things they've replaced (possibly because most of it is original).

I suppose I could fly down and pore over the car. I guess I would do that anyway. And if the test drive reveals sketchiness that cannot be resolved with further negotiation, I could try to buy a ticket back... in that way the driving down gives more flexibility.
I don't recall whether the hood light worked.

I cruised some of the other NC craigslists for notable B-bodies and found this: http://greensboro.craigslist.org/cto/5236441422.html Maybe I should just forget about the CTS wagon :)

Caprice PPVs currently bottom out around $10k.

Interior refresh in 2014 bit they also got rid of the nicer detective trim in 2014.

Wow, didn't realized they were that cheap. That certainly seems like a bargain to get into that platform.

Agreed but I don't have $10k for that. Adam is poking around though. I could milk my Caprice for a few more years and try to move up to that. My biggest problem is they are kinda basic. But LWB is awesome.

$9k in NH with under 100k. Now that's bottom of the market.

Caprice PPV is probably about as fast as my Caprice would be with a stock LQ9 swap. Something to think about.
